My New Travel Necessity: The Thule Stir Hiking Pack

Travel Posts, Travel Tips, Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Recently I’ve been on the hunt for a daypack that I can take anywhere.  Luckily for me, Thule has developed their new Stir series to bring comfort, practicality and style to solve all my backpacking needs. The lightweight nature of their new hiking bags make them great for a day at the beach or an overnight camping trip in the Rocky Mountains.

Lately I’ve spending a lot of time in one of my favorite countries, Costa Rica. The landscape is rustic, the people are friendly and the atmosphere is authentic. I mainly travel to the Guanacaste area, flying into Liberia and driving to various points along the coastline. This past week I found myself staying at the J.W. Marriot, about an hour away from the airport. I landed at 9pm on Wednesday night and headed straight to the shore.

I had a solid seven hours of sleep that night before the sun started to sneak up on me from behind the curtains. I woke up, drank some Costa Rican coffee, and was ready for the day! Today I was setting out for an adventure. I packed up my Thule Stir backpack with two beach towels, sunscreen, water, beer, snacks and most importantly, my camera kit, and then hit the open road. After talking with the hotel concierge they explained it would take me a few hours to walk to Avellanas, my beach destination for the day. Although it was 90 plus degrees out and the sweat was dripping from my body, I was up for the challenge. I had everything I needed with me.  Now I just had to keep on moving.

My Thule daypack made my day to one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful coastlines easy breezy. The new series in the Versant line for women wore effortlessly.  With a seemingly weightless feel and the more than ample storage size, the bag allows me to bring all my must-haves wherever I’m heading. On this particular trip the multiple, easily accessible pockets allowed me to keep everything organized and the waterproof material made me worry-free as I adventured through Costa Rica’s often fickle-trickle climate. When the dark clouds started to roll in on the beach, I sat in comfort knowing my bag and valuables inside would stay dry.

Thule designed this sleek bag to be used anywhere and anytime, and whether I’m hiking the Rockies or chasing beach sunsets in Costa Rica, it has become indispensable to my travel kit. The reliability and versatility also highlight my favorite feature of the bag: it’s adjustable straps and belts. So whether I need my bag feeling comfortable yet stable for long hikes I can add the support belt.  If I want it lose-fitting and low hanging for my ice/beer runs into town, no problem, I can simply take them off.  Wherever I am in the world I seem to never be without this handy bag.
